Chapter Thirteen

He kissed my ear and stroked my hair, surprising me with tenderness. "Why are you crying, Tiam?" I sighed, still jerking every now and again. "Nothing. It doesn't matter."

"Tell me." Leaning his back against the outside of the cave, he pulled me onto his lap to rest. I resisted curling into his warm, protective hold.
